About the Tolliver Law Firm

After  nearly twenty years of a big firm/big city lifestyle, Craig and Sheri, a husband and wife team who met and married as young law students at Vanderbilt Law School, moved with their three young children to a small mountain town in Colorado.  Craig is an accomplished IP attorney and Sheri has spent her career as a public interest attorney and advocate.  They formed the Tolliver Law Firm in 2018.

About Craig

Craig has nearly twenty years of experience in intellectual property and complex litigation matters, including patent litigation and enforcement, IP portfolio strategy, and detailed licensing negotiations.  

These matters have ranged from big ticket "the company is at stake" patent lawsuits to strategic counseling.   Craig has represented companies of all sizes, from among the largest companies in the U.S. to small start up companies.

Craig has practiced in a wide variety of technologies, including software, hardware, medical equipment, semiconductor industries, financial technologies, mobile devices, and e-commerce.

Before forming the Tolliver Law Firm, Craig practiced with nationally recognized IP and technology-focused law firms.  Most recently, Craig was a Principal and Shareholder with McKool Smith.

Craig is licensed to practice in Colorado, Texas, and before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Craig has a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (J.D., 2000) and a Microbiology degree from the University of Florida (B.S., 1995).

  • BMC Software, Inc. v. ServiceNow, Inc.  Represented BMC in an infringement suit in Texas against ServiceNow generally related to IT discovery, database management, and visualization technologies concerning the delivery of ITSM services.

  • PanOptis Wireless Technology et al. v. ZTE; PanOptis Wireless Technology et al. v. Huawei. Represented PanOptis in infringement suits in Texas against ZTE and Huawei generally related to standard-essential and implementation patents concerning LTE.

  • Good Technology.  Represented Good Technology in several cases in multiple jurisdictions, including Northern California, against competing companies over smartphone data synchronization and security software. 

  • MagSil & MIT v. Seagate et al.  Represented the co-plaintiffs MagSil and MIT against the hard disk drive industry in Delaware in a patent case concerning pioneering read-head technology.   

  • HNC Software, Inc. v. PULSE EFT Association.  Represented HNC Software in an infringement
    action in Texas involving financial card fraud detection. 

  • Indivos Corporation v. Biometric Access Corporation.  Represented Biometric Access Company in
    an infringement action in Northern California, and a related case in Texas, involving biometric identity verification and electronic financial transaction processing.

  • Rambus Inc. v. Hynix Semiconductor Inc. et al.; Rambus Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al.  Represented Rambus in patent infringement actions in Northern California involving memory components, memory modules, and memory controllers.

  • Elonex IP Holdings, Ltd. v. Apple Computer, Inc.  Represented Apple in a multi-defendant patent infringement suit filed in Delaware against the computer industry involving power management and the VESA display standard.

About Sheri

Sheri has over a decade of experience practicing law and has served in leadership and advocacy roles within the broader community for twenty-plus years.  ​​​​​​​​​

This year she founded the Yampa Valley Law & Advocacy Center, a legal organization that advances the rights of children who have experienced abuse, neglect or instability, and defends the rights of victims of domestic and sexual violence by providing quality pro bono legal representation, and advocating for systematic change and increased access to justice.

As an attorney with the Texas Civil Rights Project, Sheri served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow and represented low-income individuals in all phases of federal and state civil rights litigation, including actions arising under Section 1983, Title IX, the ADA, Section 504, the IDEA, and the Medicaid Act.  She also developed and implemented an Amicus Curiae program for the organization, and regularly managed interns, law clerks and pro bono attorneys.  As an attorney with the Southern Disability Law Center, Sheri represented low-income children with disabilities in administrative litigation before the Texas Education Agency and provided advocacy training to parent groups in urban school districts.

Beyond her legal practice, Sheri has extensive experience advocating for children in need and crime victims.  As a guardian ad litem in child abuse and neglect proceedings, Sheri advocated for older foster youth in the permanent managing conservatorship of Texas.  Additionally, as a legal advocate with a national domestic violence center, Sheri regularly interfaced with the District Attorney’s Office and provided legal advocacy support to survivors seeking orders of protection in court, engaged in safety planning and lethality assessments with clients, and provided rape crisis support as a hospital-based medical advocate.

She currently serves as the President of the Board of the Southern Disability Law Center.


Sheri is licensed to practice law in Texas and holds a Pro Bono Counsel Certification in Colorado.  She is available to provide mediation services and pro bono representation to clients meeting eligibility standards set forth by Colorado Legal Services and the Supreme Court of Colorado.

​Sheri has a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School (J.D., 2000, Order of the Coif).  She also has a degree in Law & Psychology from Albion College (B.A., 1997, Summa Cum Laude), and graduated as a member of the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service.
